What We Believe

We believe that:

 

• The Bible tells us who God is and what he is like. It tells us about the universe around us and it tells us about who we are as human beings.

• There is one God, (Isaiah 46:9). God was not created or made. He has always existed.

• The Bible speaks of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Each is fully God. Yet they are distinct from one another. Though we cannot get our minds fully around this we believe the Bible states this clearly.

• God made the whole universe. He made all things. All things are under his power.

• Jesus Christ, (fully God and fully man) lived in Palestine. He fulfilled all that was written of him in the Old Testament scriptures. He never sinned. He died outside the city of Jerusalem under the authority of a Roman governor Pontius Pilate.

• In his death he died as a sacrifice for sin. He died as the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world.

• Jesus rose from the dead in fulfilment of the scriptures and after forty days ascended to heaven. He will return again one day as judge.

• In the resurrection of Jesus a new creation began. At present this new creation is hidden. When Jesus returns the new creation will be revealed fully. The whole universe will be renewed.

• The Holy Spirit enables people to believe that Jesus died for them. He gives people faith and joins them to Jesus. His presence in the life of a person is a guarantee that they belong to a new creation.
